DESCRIPTION:Transforming Trauma Through Attachment: Practical AEDP Interventions for Lasting Change\nFacilitated by: Dr. Diana Fosha \nDate: December 4 & 5\, 2026 \nTime: 11:00am – 2:30pm (ET) \nLocation: Live Online via Zoom \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE \nWorkshop Description \nClinicians who work with attachment trauma face a profound paradox daily: their most wounded clients desperately need connection to heal\, yet connection is precisely what most triggers them. Yet\, despite widespread knowledge of attachment theory\, clinicians lack specific moment-to-moment interventions for its use in clinical work. Faced with hypervigilant\, dissociated\, or dysregulated clients\, they find themselves without systematic methods to heal the attachment aspect of attachment trauma. \nAEDP’s revolutionary solution is an empirically supported methodology that uses attachment itself to heal attachment wounding. AEDP bridges the gap between attachment research and clinical practice\, offering concrete techniques that create healing from the very first session on: (i) the systematic undoing of patients’ aloneness in the face of overwhelming emotion—the core mechanism underlying all attachment trauma—through dyadic affect regulation and experiential relational processing work with the here-and-now experience of the therapeutic relationship; (ii) the systematic cultivation of receptive affective experiences—clients’ capacity to actually take in and internalize care\, understanding\, and love that is being offered; (iii) relational metatherapeutic processing\, the last step in the rewiring of the internal working model. \nFor clients\, this means moving from experiencing “attachment as threat” to “attachment as sanctuary”—often for the first time\, experiencing what it feels like to exist safely in someone’s heart and mind. \nLearning Objectives \nAt the end of this Workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nUtilize three different types of interventions that utilize attachment to treat attachment trauma\nDefine receptive affective experiences and describe how make use of them to enhance the effectiveness of your therapeutic empathy\nInvestigate three different types of interventions used in AEDP to undo aloneness\nApply the concept of relational processing in psychotherapy sessions with traumatized clients\nEvaluate three different types of receptive affective experiences\nApply the technique of relational metaprocessing to consolidate and expand changes in clients’ internal working models\n\nPresenter \nDiana Fosha\, PhD\, is the developer of AEDP®\, a healing-oriented\, radically relational experiential psychotherapy to transform trauma\, heal attachment wounds\, and help people connect to their vitality. Founder and director of the AEDP Institute and on the Faculty at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine in New York City\, her work sits at the cutting edge of transformational theory and radically relational clinical practice. For over two decades\, she has pioneered the integration of affective neuroscience\, attachment theory\, positive neuroplasticity\, and recognition science into a coherent\, evidence-based framework for healing trauma and attachment wounds — and for catalyzing what she terms “quantum change” in patients’ lives. AEDP’s central commitment is the transformation of emotional suffering into flourishing. She is author of The Transforming Power of Affect (2000); Undoing Aloneness: The Transformation of Suffering into Flourishing. AEDP 2.0 (2021); and\, with Karen Pando-Mars\, Tailoring Treatment to Attachment Patterns: Healing Trauma in Relationship (2025). Her live clinical work\, showing her pioneering techniques for creating corrective relational experiences that rewire attachment patterns\, has been published by the APA (American Psychological Association) in five videos\, including one following a complete course of AEDP therapy and one devoted to clinical supervision.
