SUMMARY:ONLINE Training – Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
DESCRIPTION:Online via Zoom \nApril & May 2023 (Including April 17+18\, 24+25; May 1+2\, 8+9)\n9:00 am – 1:00 pm EDT \nThis 4-week course\, offered through the Centre for MindBody Health\, provides a comprehensive examination of DBT-PTSD based on a psycho-social model. Within this model\, dysfunctional behaviors are understood as strategies to avoid or escape from trauma-associated primary emotions like powerlessness\, threat\, anxiety\, disgust\, humiliation\, or sexual arousal. The model posits that these emotions are corroborated by dysfunctional cognitive assumptions and dysfunctional behaviors such as self-injury\, suicidal ideation\, dissociation or intoxication and that problematic secondary emotions such as shame\, guilt\, self-hatred\, or chronic anger develop over time into problematic self-concepts which impair quality of life. \nDBT-PTSD primarily aims to help patients: a) Revise their fear of trauma-associated primary emotions\, b) Question whether secondary emotions like guilt and shame fit the facts\, and c) Radically accept the fact of trauma in their lives to establish a life worth living. The treatment program is designed to be delivered in a residential program (three-months) or in an outpatient setting (45 weeks). \nThis 4-week course provides comprehensive training in DBT-PTSD including a manual. The course also fulfills the prerequisite for enrolling in future Advanced Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder workshops. \nAT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS TRAINING\, YOU’LL BE ABLE TO: \n\nDescribe the basic psychosocial and neurobehavioral principles of complex PTSD\nImplement the principles of DBT-PTSD within your clinical practice\nDevelop an individualized trauma model\nTeach your client skills for dissociation\, distress tolerance\, and regulation of trauma-related emotions\nConduct in-sensu exposure\nHelp your clients create a life worth living\n\nRegistrants will retain access to the course material and recordings of all classes for 30 days after the course training concludes. Apr. 22\, 11:00am–2:00pm EDT \n[divider height=”6″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \n“Self-Compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.” Chris Germer\nTO REGISTER\n\nComplete the registration inquiry form below and Etransfer the registration fee of $695 CAD  to: presenceworkshops@sharigeller.ca \nOnce your inquiry is received\, a more detailed registration form will be emailed to you to complete your registration. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer\, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness\, care and understanding. \nThe three key components of self-compassion are self-kindness\, a sense of common humanity\, and balanced\, mindful awareness. Kindness opens our hearts to suffering\, so we can give ourselves what we need. Common humanity opens us to our essential interrelatedness\, so that we know we aren’t alone. Mindfulness opens us to the present moment\, so we can accept our experience with greater ease. \nSelf-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience and can be learned by anyone. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing\, less anxiety\, depression and stress\, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise\, and satisfying personal relationships. \nWHAT TO EXPECT \nMSC is a skill-based program offered in a group format. Program activities include meditation\, short talks\, experiential exercises\, group discussion\, and home practices. MSC is a skills group rather than a retreat. The goal is for participants to directly experience self-compassion and learn practices that evoke self-compassion in daily life. \nMSC is primarily a compassion training program rather than mindfulness training\, although mindfulness is the foundation of self-compassion. The emphasis in MSC is on building emotional resources. Compassion is a positive\, energizing emotion\, however\, while learning self-compassion\, some difficult emotions may arise. MSC is not focused on working through old injuries\, instead the focus will be on developing the skills and resources to be with ourselves in a kinder\, more compassionate way\, which results in beneficial change. The facilitators are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for this process to unfold\, and to making the journey enjoyable for everyone. \nMSC includes 8 weekly online sessions of 3 hours each\, in addition to a 3-hour online silent retreat. Prior to registering\, participants should plan to attend every session and practice mindfulness and self-compassion at least 30 minutes per day throughout the program. \nPREREQUISITES \nNo previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MSC. To ensure safety\, participants are asked to provide background information when they register for the program. The following books are recommended as companions to the MSC program: \n\nThe Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer\nSelf-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself\, by Kristen Neff\nThe Mindful Path to Self-Compassion\, by Christopher Germer\n\nThis program fulfills one of the prerequisites for becoming an MSC teacher. For more information on MSC and MSC Teacher Training\, please visit  www.centerformsc.org \nIn addition\, this program is a prerequisite for the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) Certificate Program. SUMMARY:Online Training - Navigating the Nervous System: A Polyvagal Approach to Working with Complex Trauma
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce our Spring 2023 training will be hosted by Deborah A. Dana\, LCSW. Join us for this two-day training\, Navigating the Nervous System: A Polyvagal Approach to Working with Complex Trauma. \nEvent Details\n \nDates: Thursday and Friday\, March 23 and 24\, 2023 \nTime: 12pm to 3:15pm EST \nLocation: Zoom \n[button title=”REGISTER ONLINE HERE” link=”#register” target=”” align=”” icon=”” icon_position=”” color=”” font_color=”” size=”2″ full_width=”” class=”” download=”” rel=”” onclick=””] \nAbout the Workshop \nThe autonomic nervous system is at the heart of daily living powerfully shaping our clients’ experiences of safety and influencing their capacity for connection. Polyvagal Theory\, through the organizing principles of hierarchy\, neuroception\, and co-regulation\, has revolutionized our understanding of how this system works. Guided by Polyvagal Theory\, we have a deep appreciation of the ways trauma shapes the nervous system and of the pathways that lead to healing. Trauma interrupts the development of autonomic regulation and sidetracks building the circuitry of safe connection. Without intervention\, adaptive survival responses become habitual autonomic patterns and pathways of connection are replaced with patterns of protection. With an updated map of the autonomic circuits that underlie behaviors and beliefs\, we have a new understanding of the characteristic post-traumatic patterns of hyperarousal\, hypervigilance\, disconnection\, and numbing and can reliably lead our clients out of adaptive survival responses into the autonomically regulated state of safety that is necessary for successful treatment. \nWorking with the autonomic nervous system brings the science of safety into practical application with ways to help clients identify and interrupt their habitual survival patterns and strategies to shape their systems toward connection. SUMMARY:ONLINE Training – Advanced Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
DESCRIPTION:Online via Zoom\n \nThis two-day case-based learning workshop focuses on Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex PTSD (DBT-PTSD). Through didactic learning and selected case presentations\, the training will address topics presenting the greatest challenges for participants. \nDBT-PTSD is tailored to treat adult PTSD after childhood abuse\, including those with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Most of these people show severe problems in emotion regulation\, negative self-concept\, dysfunctional memory processing and maladaptive social interaction. To target these core domains\, DBT-PTSD merges multiple evidence-based elements: DBT principles\, trauma-specific cognitive and exposure-based techniques\, compassion focused interventions and behavior change procedures. The treatment program is designed to be delivered in a residential program (three-months) or in an outpatient setting (45 weeks). Data from a multi-center RCT under outpatient conditions (n=200; 100%female) showed significant improvement in all relevant domains as well as significant superiority of DBT-PTSD versus Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). \nDBT-PTSD is based on a psycho-social model. Typical dysfunctional behaviors can predominantly be understood as strategies to avoid or escape from trauma-associated primary emotions like powerlessness\, threat\, anxiety\, disgust\, humiliation or sexual arousal. Corroborated by dysfunctional cognitive assumptions\, dysfunctional behaviors such as self-injury\, suicidal ideation\, dissociation\, or intoxication and problematic secondary emotions such as shame\, guilt\, self-hatred\, or chronic anger develop over time into problematic self-concepts that strongly impair quality of life. DBT-PTSD aims to help people: a) Revise their fear of trauma-associated primary emotions\, b) Question whether secondary emotions like guilt and shame fit the facts\, and c) Radically accept the fact of trauma in their lives in order to establish a life worth living. \nCOURSE PREREQUISITE : \nThis course is intended for experienced clinicians who have completed DBT-PTSD Part I and want additional training and consultation in applying the skills and strategies of the DBT-PTSD model. \n[button title=”CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE” link=”https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/advanced-dialectical-behavior-therapy-for-complex-ptsd-tickets-334893313917″ target=”_blank” align=”” icon=”” icon_position=”” color=”” font_color=”” size=”2″ full_width=”” class=”” download=”” rel=”” onclick=””] \nPRESENTERS \n \nDr. Martin Bohus\, MD \nMartin Bohus\, MD\, received his specialty in Psychiatry and in Psychosomatic Medicine. SUMMARY:ONLINE PROGRAM – 8 Week Mindful Self-Compassion
DESCRIPTION:(Fridays: 9:00am – 12:00 pm ET) \nSilent Retreat: Saturday\, Nov. 19\, 9:00am – 12:00pm ET \n[divider height=”6″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \n“Self-Compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.” Chris Germer\nTOTAL COST: $695 CAD \nThis program is being offered online via Zoom video conferencing. In order to register and participate in the program\, you will need: \n\nAn email account to receive an invitation link for each session\nA computer/tablet/smart phone with access to stable internet connectivity\nA quiet and confidential location\n\nMindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically supported\, 8-week training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. For more information\, please visit https://scipprogram.com/ \nTHE MSC PROGRAM OFFERS SKILLS FOR LEARNING TO: \n\nPractice self-compassion in daily life\nUnderstand the empirically-supported benefits of self-compassion\nMotivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism\nHandle difficult emotions with greater ease\nTransform challenging relationships\, old and new\nManage caregiver fatigue\n\nFACILITATORS \nDr. Shari Geller\, Ph.D.\nClinical Psychologist \nShari is an author\, teacher\, and clinical psychologist. DESCRIPTION:April 2022 (Including April 4+5; 11+12; 18+19; 25+26)\n9:00 am-1:00 pm EDT\nOnline via Zoom \nThis 4-week (32 hours) course\, offered through the Centre for MindBody Health\, provides a comprehensive examination of DBT-PTSD based on a psycho-social model. The model posits that these emotions are corroborated by dysfunctional cognitive assumptions and dysfunctional behaviors such as self-injury\, suicidal ideation\, dissociation or intoxication and that problematic secondary emotions such as shame\, guilt\, self-hatred or chronic anger develop over time into problematic self-concepts which impair quality of life. \nDBT-PTSD primarily aims to help patients: a) Revise their fear of trauma-associated primary emotions\, b) Question whether secondary emotions like guilt and shame fit the facts\, and c) Radically accept the fact of trauma in their lives in order to establish a life worth living. SUMMARY:ONLINE PROGRAM - 8 Week Mindful Self-Compassion: March 21 - May 9\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:March 21 – May 9\, 2022\n(Mondays: 6:00 – 9:00 pm EDT)\nSilent Retreat: Friday\, Apr. 22nd\, 1 – 4 pm EDT\n \n[divider height=”6″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \n“Self-Compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.” Chris Germer\nTOTAL COST: $695 CAD \nDue to concerns and recommendations regarding COVID-19\, this program is being offered online via Zoom video conferencing. \nIn order to register and participate in the program\, you will need: \n\nAn email account to receive an invitation link for each session\nA computer/tablet/smart phone with access to stable internet connectivity\nA quiet and confidential location\n\nMindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically supported\, 8-week training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. For more information\, please visit https://scipprogram.com/ \nTHE MSC PROGRAM OFFERS SKILLS FOR LEARNING TO: \n\nPractice self-compassion in daily life\nUnderstand the empirically-supported benefits of self-compassion\nMotivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism\nHandle difficult emotions with greater ease\nTransform challenging relationships\, old and new\nManage caregiver fatigue\nPractice the art of savoring and self-appreciation\n\nFACILITATORS \nDr. Shari Geller\, Ph.D.\nClinical Psychologist \nShari is an author\, teacher\, and clinical psychologist. SUMMARY:ONLINE Training - Advanced Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
DESCRIPTION:9:00 am-3:00 pm EST\nOnline via Zoom\n \nThis two-day case-based learning workshop focuses on Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex PTSD (DBT-PTSD). \nCOURSE PREREQUISITE \nThis course is intended for experienced clinicians who have completed DBT-PTSD Part I and want additional training and consultation in applying the skills and strategies of the DBT-PTSD model. \n[button title=”CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE” link=”https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/advanced-dialectical-behavior-therapy-for-complex-ptsd-tickets-192434455637″ target=”_blank” align=”” icon=”” icon_position=”” color=”” font_color=”” size=”2″ full_width=”” class=”” download=”” rel=”” onclick=””] \nPRESENTERS \n \nDr. Martin Bohus\, MD \nMartin Bohus\, MD\, received his specialty in Psychiatry and in Psychosomatic Medicine. SUMMARY:POSTPONED: Strengthening Therapeutic Relationships: Cultivating Therapeutic Presence in AEDP\, EFT and Transtheoretically
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED:  New Dates To Be Confirmed \n11:00 am – 3:00 pm EDT \nLIVE ONLINE INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP\nThis workshop will be recorded and available for 30 days.\nEven if you can’t make it live\, you can view after the event!\n*** Please note: APA CE credits are only available for live online attendance *** \nTherapeutic Presence is a way of being that reflects a therapist’s full\, embodied engagement in the moment in relationship with their clients. Robust research shows that presence supports the development of effective and healing therapeutic relationships – a common factor for effective therapy across many different orientations. \nTherapeutic presence helps to create a neurophysiologic sense of increased safety for clients and therapists. The relationship becomes a safer and supportive base and a buffer for the painful exploration and transformation of relational trauma through co-regulation of affect and undoing of aloneness. \nThrough the complementary lenses of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)\, this workshop will address the role of Therapeutic Presence in the service of strengthening therapeutic relationships\, psychological healing and transformation. \nSince presence needs to be directly experienced to be understood this workshop will be didactic and experiential\, and participants will receive practices\, engage in dyadic role plays and view therapy video clips to deepen their learning. \n[button title=”CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE” link=”https://www.academeca.com/CEUReg/Order.aspx?selectedId=4365&offerGuid=4fac6ac9-45fb-4b4b-8d6a-ae360bcad8cc” target=”_blank” align=”” icon=”” icon_position=”” color=”” font_color=”” size=”2″ full_width=”” class=”” download=”” rel=”” onclick=””] \nFACILITATORS \nShari Geller\, PhD\, C.Psych is an author\, clinical psychologist\, and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher. For more information on MSC and MSC Teacher Training\, please visit  www.centerformsc.org \nIn addition\, this program is a prerequisite for the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) Certificate Program. SUMMARY:Self-Compassion in Clinical Practice: Evidence and Clinical Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Live Online Workshop\nMedipsy\, Montreal\, Quebec\, Canada\nContinuing Education Credit available \nGENERAL DESCRIPTION \nHow do we typically react when things go wrong in our lives—when we suffer\, fail or feel inadequate? Our first instinct is to avoid uncomfortable feelings\, a strategy which usually just makes things worse. What is a healthier alternative? Mindfulness is the first step—turning with loving awareness toward difficult experience (thoughts\, emotions\, and sensations). Self-compassion comes next—bringing loving awareness to ourselves. Together\, mindfulness and self-compassion comprise a state of warm\, connected\, presence during difficult moments in our lives. \nSelf-compassion is an important inner resource that increases resilience during challenging and difficult times. It involves the capacity to comfort and soothe oneself\, and to motivate ourselves with encouragement when we struggle\, fail\, or feel inadequate. Thousands of studies shows that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing\, better coping\, healthy habits\, more satisfying relationships\, and lower levels of anxiety and depression. Developing this resource is especially important now\, as people are growing weary after months of dealing with changes\, uncertainty and losses related to the pandemic. \nMany helping professionals have been introduced to the concept of self-compassion\, but they may not have been taught how to explicitly integrate this knowledge into clinical practice. Self-compassion can be integrated into clinical work by (1) how clinicians relate to themselves (compassionate presence)\, (2) how clinicians relate to their clients (compassionate relationship)\, and (3) how clients relate to themselves (home practice). In addition to helping clients increase resilience\, self-compassion is an important resource for clinicians. It enables clinicians to maintain emotional balance in the midst of challenging clinical work\, to enjoy their work and their clients more fully\, to be fully present and attuned with their clients\, and to prevent caregiver fatigue. \nOBJECTIVES \nWith this workshop\, participants will learn: \n\nthe theory and research of self-compassion in psychotherapy\nhow to enhance the therapeutic relationship through compassion and self-compassion practices during the clinical hour\nto identify the role of shame in psychotherapy and implement self-compassion to alleviate shame.\nto teach clients how to cultivate and practice self-compassion at home\, between sessions.\n\nFEES AND REGISTRATION \nEarly registration rate ($185 + taxes) ends August 29th\, 2021. Regular fee: $210 + taxes. Students receive a $60 discount on those prices. \nFor more information and to register now\, please visit https://www.medipsy.ca/en/registration-for-live-training.html \nCE CREDITS \nThis workshop is approved for 6 hours of continuing education by the OPQ (under review). \nFACILITATORS \nDr. Chris Germer is a clinical psychologist and lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He co-developed the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program with Dr. Kristin Neff in 2010\, with whom he also authored two books\, The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook and Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program. MSC has since been taught to over 150\,000 people worldwide. In addition to having a clinical practice in Massachusetts\, USA\, Dr. Germer spends most of his time lecturing and leading workshops around the world on mindfulness and self-compassion. He is also the author of The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion and he co-edited two influential volumes on therapy\, Mindfulness and Psychotherapy\, and Wisdom and Compassion in Psychotherapy. \n\nDr. Shari Geller is an author and leader in the field of Therapeutic Presence\, clinical psychologist\, trained teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion and creator of the Therapeutic Rhythm and Mindfulness Program. With over twenty-five years of experience weaving psychology and mindfulness\, Dr. Geller co-authored the book Therapeutic Presence: A Mindful Approach to Effective Therapy with Dr. Leslie S. Greenberg. She has released a companion CD on cultivating presence\, with guided practices using the healing power of music and the health benefits of mindfulness. Her second book\, A Practical Guide For Cultivating Therapeutic Presence\, offers practical guidance for cultivating and strengthening therapeutic presence as a foundational approach. Dr. Geller serves on the teaching faculty in Health Psychology at York University and for the Applied Mindfulness Meditation (AMM) program at University of Toronto\, and is Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto\, in association with Music and Health Research Collaboratory (MaHRC). SUMMARY:8 Week Mindful Self-Compassion ONLINE PROGRAM: March 22 - May 17\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:(Mondays 2:00 – 5:00 pm EST — Excluding April 26)\nSilent Retreat: Sat. April 24\, 12:00 – 3:00 pm EST \n[divider height=”6″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \nPLEASE NOTE: \nIf you have previously registered and did not receive any confirmation\, please contact camilla@sharigeller.ca ASAP. We  have been experiencing technical difficulties with the online registration page and we deeply apologize for the frustration and inconvenience. We are working hard to address these issues and appreciate your patience and understanding. \n[divider height=”6″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \n“Self-Compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.” Chris Germer\nDue to concerns and recommendations regarding COVID-19\, this program is being offered online via Zoom video conferencing. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that selfcompassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing\, less anxiety\, depression and stress\, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise\, and satisfying personal relationships. SUMMARY:Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (DBT-PTSD)
DESCRIPTION:Join this dynamic and interactive online course offered through University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies featuring two internationally renowned DBT clinicians and researchers. \nDates: February 22 – April 19 (no class March 15)\nWebinar Times: 9a – 1p EST\nTuition: $1\,099 CDN + HST\nDelivery: Online \nThis 8-week course provides a comprehensive examination of DBT-PTSD based on a psycho-social model. Within this model\, dysfunctional behaviors are understood as strategies to avoid or escape from trauma-associated primary emotions like powerlessness\, threat\, anxiety\, disgust\, humiliation or sexual arousal. \nDBT-PTSD helps patients: a). Revise their fear of trauma-associated primary emotions\, b). Question whether secondary emotions like guilt and shame fit the facts\, and c). Radically accept the fact of trauma in their lives in order to establish a life worth living. The treatment program is designed to be delivered in a residential program (three-months) or in an outpatient setting (45 weeks). \nAT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS TRAINING YOU’LL BE ABLE TO: \n\nDescribe the basic psychosocial and neurobehavioral principles of complex PTSD\nImplement the principles of DBT-PTSD within your clinical practice\nDevelop an individualized trauma model\nTeach your client skills for dissociation\, distress tolerance\, and regulation of trauma-related emotions\nConduct in-sensu exposure\nHelp your clients create a life worth living\n\nRegistrants will retain access to the course material and recordings of all classes for 30 days after the course training concludes. All registrants will be able to download core content (PPT OR PDF) and hear recordings of classes. \nClass recordings cannot be downloaded. \nPRESENTER \nMartin Bohus\, MD\, received his specialty in Psychiatry and in Psychosomatic Medicine. SUMMARY:ONLINE: Presence and Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy: A Foundational Approach for Therapists & Clients
DESCRIPTION:[divider height=”30″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″] \n11am – 2pm each day \nJoin Dr. Shari Geller with guest presenter Dr. Christopher Germer\, experts in the field on Presence and Self-Compassion for a 2-half day workshop. This workshop will offer clinicians core skills and practices to cultivate presence and self-compassion as a foundation for therapeutic relationships\, self-care and to teach to clients. \nTherapeutic presence (TP) lies at the heart of a positive treatment alliance. When practicing therapeutic presence\, clinicians use their whole self— physically\, emotionally\, cognitively and spiritually—to be receptively attuned and deeply engaged with the client\, moment-by-moment. TP provides a neurophysiological sense of safety in clients that allows them to be seen\, heard\, understood\, and “feel felt.” \nSelf-compassion (MSC) involves the capacity to comfort and soothe ourselves\, and to motivate ourselves with encouragement\, when we struggle\, fail\, or feel inadequate. It is a key resource that enables clinicians to be fully present and attuned with clients. Burgeoning research shows that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing\, lower levels of anxiety and depression\, coping with life challenges\, healthy habits like diet and exercise\, and more satisfying relationships. \nTP and MSC are trans-theoretical mechanisms of change in psychotherapy and the emotional heart of mindfulness when we meet suffering. Self-compassion is a part of presence\, and yet strengthens presence. Both therapeutic presence and self-compassion are powerful resources for clinicians to maintain emotional balance in the midst of challenging clinical work\, to enjoy their work and their clients more fully\, and to prevent caregiver fatigue. \nSince presence and self-compassion need to be directly experienced to be understood\, this workshop will be largely experiential\, including meditation\, musical rhythm\, imagery\, and creative exercises. It will also contain short lectures\, class exercises\, videos\, poetry\, and group discussion. Participants will receive instructions to a wide variety of practices that can be practiced at home\, and also taught to clients\, students\, and trainees. \n  \nTop 4 reasons to attend this workshop: \n\nDiscover the research evidence for the benefits of presence\, compassion\, and self-compassion in psychotherapy and in life.\nBe able to practice presence and self-compassion techniques during therapy and in life to sustain emotional connection in challenging therapeutic interactions.\nExperience how self-compassion alleviates self-criticism and shame.\nHelp clients and patients cultivate mindful presence and self-compassion skills.\n\n  \nDue to concerns and recommendations regarding COVID-19\, this program is being offered ONLINE VIA ZOOM conferencing. In order to register and participate in the program\, you will need: \n\nAn email account to receive an invitation link for each session\nA computer/tablet/smart phone with access to stable internet connectivity\n\n  \nPRESENTERS: \nDr. Shari Geller\, Ph.D.\, C.Psych.\, is an author\, teacher\, and clinical psychologist.
