SUMMARY:Self-Compassion 8-week Group
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS SELF-COMPASSION? \nSelf-compassion is treating ourselves and our suffering with kindness and care\, rather then ignoring or hurting ourselves. \nThere are three components to  self-compassion: \n\nSelf-kindness opens our hearts to suffering; it enables us to give our-selves the kindness that we need.\nSense of common humanity opens us to our inter-relatedness;  it helps us understand we are not alone.\nBalanced\, mindful awareness opens us to the present moment; we can then accept experiences with greater ease.\n\nSelf-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience. It can be learned by anyone. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being; reduced anxiety\, depression and stress; maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise; and satisfying personal relationships. \nWHO WE ARE \nCentre for MindBody Health brings together a community of skilled health care practitioners. We specialize in compassionate\, evidence-based\, emotion-focused and mindfulness-based psychotherapies. \nSELF-COMPASSION GROUPS \nThe self-compassion group meets weekly with a defined goal: \n\nFor participants to directly experience self-compassion and learn practices to evoke self-compassion in their daily lives. In this way\, participants build their emotional resources.\n\nCompassion is a positive energizing emotion\, However\, in learning self-compassion\, difficult emotions may arise. We won’t focus upon working through these emotions. Instead\, we will develop the skills and resources to be present (with ourselves and these emotions) in a kinder\, more compassionate way. \nWHAT YOU WILL LEARN \nBy participating in this group\, you will learn to: \n\nPractice self-compassion in your daily life.\nApply your mindfulness and self-compassion skills in difficult moments.\nUnderstand the benefits of self-compassion.\nMotivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism.\nHandle difficult emotions with greater ease and practical resources.\n\nTHE GROUP LEADERS\n[divider height=”10″ style=”default” line=”default” themecolor=”1″]\n[one] \nDr. Nicola Hermanto\nDr. Nicola Hermanto is a clinical psychologist.
