Alex Milovanov is a PhD Candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Waterloo, nearing the completion of his pre-doctoral residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). He has helped many individuals navigate challenges such as emotion dysregulation, interpersonal conflict, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, severe OCD, depression, trauma, substance use, and impulsive behaviors. He has also supported individuals in overcoming workplace stress and trauma and has worked closely with first responders and veterans to help them rebuild resilience and find balance.
Alex takes a deeply compassionate and client-centred approach to treatment, creating a non-judgmental space that fosters meaningful transformation and change. With a strong sense of curiosity and appreciation for each person’s uniqueness, Alex partners with clients to craft personalized paths to wellness. He empowers clients to rediscover their strengths and values as they overcome challenges and move towards more fulfilling lives.
Alex is passionate about Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and also brings extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. Tailoring therapy to each client’s needs, he integrates techniques from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused approaches to facilitate emotional mastery and growth.
